Cold, exhausted and half way done! – Marathon training weeks 7/8

318 miles and 40 training sessions down!

So thats just 40 more sessions and around 400 or so more miles before the 26th May.

I dont know about you but that seems like an awful long way…

However saying that Its weird only being half way through when all the Paris/Brighton/London marathoners are in taper! Its so close for those guys but still 8 weeks away for me. Seriously excited to find out how everyones races go though and I am sure there will be tons of excellent advice handed out which I’ll be able to use for Edinburgh so not all bad.

Now week 6 was pretty bad weather wise, week 7 made week 6 feel like a tropical paradise. My long run in week 7 was traumatising on every sleety/snowy/windy/rainy/icy level.

The weather was so bad it made my fantastic mum who has been regularly accompanying me on these runs get so cold she was in tears. Seroiusly not impressed mother nature! Luckily she made it home in one piece and has since bought a pair of extreme winter gloves to replace the rubbish ones sold to her by Sigma Sports (Cheers for that Sigma!).

Check it out! 15 whole miles, my longest run to date!

Anyways on with the weeks 7 and 8 work out round up:

Week 7:

Monday: 7 miles at MGP (9 min miles)

Tuesday: 40 mins easy

Wednesday: 10 min warm up/3 x 6 min at 10k pace (roughly 7:30 min miles)/10 min cool down

Thursday: Rest

Friday: 5 x mile repeats I DIE. but completed on treadmill all at 7:30 min miles

Saturday: Long run day, 15 MILES!

Sunday: Rest

Week 8:

Monday: 6 miles at MGP

Tuesday: 40 mins easy

Wednesday: Threshold session, with efforts at 5k and 10k pace (7:30/7:10)

Thursday: Rest!

Friday: LONG RUN (kick back week so 13 miles).

Saturday: Rest

Sunday: 9 miles at MGP (Technically this should have been Mondays session but I was bored so thought I would get it out the way)

Friday to Sundays runs were mainly fueled on this delicious white chocolate duck I recieved for easter from my boyfriends sister:

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm duck.

All I did this weekend was eat constantly so despite the running I am feeling like a proper tubby little tucker. Since I moved out from home despite having amazing intentions for meal plans and food preparation so far I can safely say it has not gone great. This weeks goal is to get food back on track! Surely it cant be that difficult to plan ahead, stay tuned to see how this goes.
