This Sunday I will be racing in my second ever half marathon and I am starting to feel NERVOUS. After completing the Royal Parks last year I quickly went about setting some pretty lofty goals for my second half, and then somewhere inbetween I decided that running a FULL marathon was an even cleverer idea!
Fast forward 5 months and I am now into my 4th week of training for the Edinburgh marathon.. This has led to some negative and positive feelings going into the Bath Half.
Positive that I can definitely complete the distance and I am pretty certain I can beat my previous PB of 1:54, negative however because marathon training means a lot of miles and frankly I am usually pretty tired after 4 days training in the week, and a long slow run is about all I can manage, plus slightly concerned how a tough/(fast hopefully) half marathon will effect a fairly heavy 5th week of marathon training.
Saying that I am going to give it my absolute best shot on Sunday and I am genuinally excited about running what I hear is a great race with fantastic atmosphere. Here are my goals:
GOAL A: Sub 1:47
GOAL B: Sub 1:50
GOAL C: PB (Sub 1:54)
This may be totally unachievable and crazy, but here’s hoping!
